AI SEO for Australia —
be the name AI recommends,
not your competitor.
Australian buyers are asking ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews who to use — and getting two or three names back, not a page of links. If you are not one of those names, you are invisible. We are the AI SEO agency that built its own visibility SaaS to fix exactly that.
What is AI SEO in Australia?
AI SEO in Australia is the practice of optimising your business so AI answer engines — ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot — name and cite you when Australian buyers ask category and location questions.
It is not the same job as ranking a blue link on Google. The old game was placing your page in the top ten and hoping the searcher clicked. The new game is being one of the two or three businesses the model actually recommends inside its answer — because that is all the buyer sees. There is no page two in an AI response. You are either in the shortlist or you do not exist for that query.
Getting there means four things working together: content the models can extract cleanly, an entity they can read (schema graph, sameAs links, consistent name-address-phone across Australian directories), third-party citations from sources the models trust, and measurement of how you actually appear across each engine. Most Australian categories have almost none of this in place yet — which is exactly why the window is open. Our full guide to getting found in AI search covers the mechanics engine by engine.
The scale of the gap is measured, not guessed. The MentionLayer AI Visibility Index — 95,392 data points across 1,004 businesses — found 65.9% of them were effectively invisible in AI search. In Australia specifically, our own Search Console already shows real impressions on terms like ‘ai seo perth’ and ‘ai seo sunshine coast’ with barely anything built. The curve is emerging here right now.
Australians ask AI the shortlist question.
Here is what the engine hands back.
“best mortgage broker in Melbourne”
AI answers now: two or three named brokers, each with a one-line reason drawn from reviews, directory profiles and mentions on third-party sites — not the old ten-link list.
“who should I use for solar in Brisbane”
AI pulls from Google Business Profile signals, local citation sources and any comparison content it can extract, then recommends a short set of installers by name.
“is [your brand] any good / [brand A] vs [brand B]”
AI synthesises sentiment from reviews across platforms, forum threads and press, and returns a verdict — sometimes before the buyer ever visits your site.
Six disciplines run together.
Each one is a place Australian businesses lose the answer silently.
Entity architecture — make your business machine-readable
AI engines can only recommend a business they can identify with confidence. We build the @graph schema, a sameAs network tying your site to your Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, directories and any press, and consistent name-address-phone across the Australian citation ecosystem. When multiple businesses share a category, the model recommends the one whose identity is unambiguous. In most Australian categories, nobody has done this yet — so it is the fastest lever we have.
Extractable content — write the way models quote
Marketing prose does not get pulled into AI answers; clean definitional sentences do. We restructure your money pages around direct-answer paragraphs, question-form headings, FAQ blocks with FAQPage schema, and short attributable claims with real numbers. The same patterns that earn a citation in ChatGPT earn one in Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews — so the content layer compounds across every engine rather than being rebuilt per platform.
Australian citations — the local signals AI trusts
For location queries, AI leans on Google Business Profile, local directories and region-specific mentions. We build and clean your footprint across the Australian sources that matter — industry directories, local press, review platforms — so 'near me' and city-level queries resolve to you. This is where a smaller, well-instrumented local operator routinely beats a bigger brand that never did the citation work.
Digital PR via PressForge — earn the citations models train on
The deepest AI-visibility wins come from third-party mentions in sources the models weight heavily during training. PressForge, our own digital-PR engine, has run 300+ campaigns to place expert commentary, original data and editorial mentions that put your brand in the corpus AI learns from. A single tier-one Australian placement can drive recommendations for years because it is baked into the model, not just the live index.
The SEO foundation — AI reads what Google already indexed
AI Overviews and ChatGPT's browsing mode retrieve from indexed, well-structured pages. Traditional SEO is not replaced by AI SEO — it is the substrate AI visibility grows on. We keep the technical, content and authority foundation strong (see our national SEO across Australia), then layer the AI-specific work on top. Turning off SEO to chase AI is a mistake we talk clients out of.
Measurement via MentionLayer — prove it is working
You cannot improve what you cannot see. MentionLayer, our AI-visibility SaaS, tracks 30–50 of your keywords across all five engines weekly: were you mentioned, cited with a link, from which page, in what context, with what sentiment — benchmarked against your top three Australian competitors. The output is a citation-share number that moves, plus the exact gaps to close next. Agencies without their own instrumentation are guessing; we report against a measured baseline.
National strategy, local answers.
Eight metros with their own AI-search program.
Local queries resolve on local signals. Each city program adds the metro citation work and Google Business Profile optimisation on top of the national entity and PR layer.
We do not sell what we cannot measure.
Almost every agency selling ‘AI SEO’ or GEO in Australia has no instrumentation behind it. We built ours, published the method, and run it on our own business first.
We built MentionLayer — our own AI-visibility SaaS
MentionLayer tracks whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Google AI Overviews mention you, cite you with a link, and in what sentiment — benchmarked against your competitors, updated weekly. It is the instrument behind every report we send. An agency measuring AI visibility with screenshots and vibes is guessing; we measure it with software we wrote.
PressForge — our digital-PR engine, 300+ campaigns
The citations AI models train on are earned, not bought. PressForge is the engine we built to place expert commentary, original data and editorial mentions in sources the models trust. Over 300 PR campaigns have run through it. That is the workstream most 'AI SEO' packages quietly leave out, because they have no way to deliver it.
Joel House wrote the book — literally
Our founder Joel House is the author of AI for Revenue and The Growth Architecture, both on Barnes & Noble, and sits on the Forbes Agency Council. The AI-search methodology we run is published, not pitched. Joel reviews every AI-visibility audit personally before it goes back to the client.
Australian coverage, national and local, one team
We run AI search across all of Australia — national brands get the entity and PR layer, local businesses get that plus metro citation work in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, the Gold Coast, Adelaide, the Sunshine Coast and Canberra. Same instrumentation, same reporting, month-to-month terms. No lock-in, because confidence looks like an easy exit.
The foundation, the pillar and the engine spokes.
